Univar
Univar's UK IT Director, James Clarke, first met CCL's Mark Grisdale at the IT Directors Forum. Soon after this meeting, Univar were looking to implement an Outsourcing Options and Selection Process and James invited CCL to bid to carry out the work. CCL were successful in their bid and the consultant set to work on this project was John Pye.
Univar's strategy was to consolidate data centres within Europe and it was clear that the existing in house data centre in the UK was not viable longer term. Therefore CCL's task was to find a suitable Outsourcing option
John Pye was able to develop a clear and thorough request for tender document very efficiently and CCL were able to take on the task of engaging with suppliers as soon as possible. A selection process took place within a demanding timescale and subsequently CCL and John Pye were retained to expedite the supplier and to ensure the overall project did not slip. According to James Clarke; "the main benefits of CCL's involvement were the speed, expertise and sheer diligence and thoroughness. It would be impossible for an IT manager to carry out this process in full whilst also undertaking a full time job."
Univar first chose CCL because their original proposal stood out from the rest - they somehow seemed to offer more comfort in the form of their previous experience and were able to provide a range of impressive CVs detailing the capabilities of their consultants. It was clear to Univar that CCL were a well established company with a wealth of experience behind them. According to James, "There is very little to criticise in CCL's procedure as they stuck rigorously to the initial project brief and had no problem meeting the tight deadlines we had set."
